Leykun Girma

Leykun Girma is an Ethiopian artist whose work explores identity, spirituality, and the human condition through a symbolic and figurative approach. With over two decades of practice, his paintings draw from cultural traditions, belief systems, and everyday life in Ethiopia. Working primarily with acrylic, he uses the human figure as a space to reflect both physical presence and inner experience, often layering it with symbolic elements influenced by ancient visual and spiritual systems. His work considers the tension between tradition and modern life, exploring themes of memory, endurance, and transformation. Through a balance of intuition and discipline, Girma creates paintings that invite reflection, where personal experience and shared realities meet in quiet, thoughtful dialogue.
