About the event

Free Admission.

Mckinney’s subjects, predominantly Black women, are portrayed in states of contemplation, reclining in soft light, draped in robes or immersed in silence. Their gestures and postures suggest renewal and resilience, embodying the spirit of a “second wind.” The works pair sensual, quiet figures with surroundings that vibrate with abstraction, where curtains swirl and walls hum with chromatic tension.

Infused with vibrant colour and expressive brushwork, the paintings evoke transformation born from repose. Mckinney’s practice invites viewers to slow down and reflect, offering moments of tenderness, strength, and possibility within the quiet spaces of everyday life.
