About the event
Iconic portraits of artists such as Roots Manuva, Estelle, Ms Dynamite and Nas sit alongside street portraits from 1990s Brixton and beyond, offering an intimate record of community, identity, and self-expression.
The exhibition also marks the return of Revolutions @33 1/3 rpm, Baptiste’s landmark documentation of London’s hip hop DJ scene, shown for the first time since 1999.
Both celebratory and reflective, Rhythm & Roots affirms Baptiste’s vital role in British photography, honouring the sound, style, and stories that continue to shape Black British cultural life.
