About the event

Suspended States" at London's Serpentine Gallery, artist Yinka Shonibare examines the impact of imperialism. Statues of Queen Victoria, Sir Winston Churchill, and Sir Charles Napier are dressed in Dutch wax fabrics but stripped of their original materials, prompting a reevaluation of colonial history.

The exhibition features installations, sculptures, pictorial quilts, and woodcut prints, addressing themes of colonial legacies, refuge, migration, and the significance of public sculptures in urban spaces.
